Course Entry/Admission Requirements for BSc in Food Science & Technology at Meru University of Science and Technology

  • K.C.S.E minimum mean grade of C+ (plus) with a minimum grade of C (plain) in each of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics/Physics or C (plain) in each of the following subjects; Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences/ Mathematics and Geography; and C (plain) in English/Kiswahili or a 3rd Group II, or a Group III, or any of the Group IV, or any Group V subjects.

OR;

  • Diploma in Food Science and Technology, Nutrition or related field from an institution recognized by MUST Senate.

Group II Subjects - Science

The group consists of four science subjects. A student must sit for at least two subjects during the exams. Subjects include:

  • Biology 
  • Physics 
  • Chemistry and 
  • General Science

Group III Subjects - Humanities

The group consists of five humanities subjects. A student must sit for at least one subject during the exams. Subjects include 

  • History and Government
  • Geography
  • Christian Religious Education (CRE) 
  • Islamic Religious Education (IRE) and 
  • Hindu Religious Education (HRE). 

Group IV Subjects

There are eleven subjects in this group. Subjects include: 

  • Home Science
  • Art and Design 
  • Agriculture
  • Woodwork
  • Metalwork
  • Building Construction
  • Power Mechanics
  • Electricity
  • Drawing and Design
  • Aviation Technology and 
  • Computer Studies

Group V Subjects - Language and Business Studies

This groups consists of subjects from languages and business studies. .Subjects include

    a) Self Sponsored Students

    To join the university as a self sponsored student, follow the steps below:

    1. Decide the programme that you want to undertake and ensure you meet the programme qualifications stated in "Our Programmes" section.
    2. Click on "Apply" at the top of this web page or at the bottom of this section"
    3. Fill in the required information in each step of the application
    4. Finish the application process and submit your application.
    5. Once your application is submitted successfully, you will receive an email from us indicating your application ID.
    6. Pay the indicated application fee depending on the programme (find payment details below)
    7. To keep track of your application status, login with the Application ID and Password sent to your email.

    b) Government Sponsored Students (KUCCPS)

    Follow the following steps to download your admission letter

    1. First ensure you have received an invitation to our university from KUCCPS.
    2. Click on "Log in" button at the bottom of this section.
    3. Enter the your KCSE INDEX number in the formart 0000000000/2020 and click Login
    4. The first time you login, you are required to accept or reject the programme you have been offered. Accepting the offer gives you the access to other services while rejecting denies you access to any other services.
    5. Enter all the required information then download the admission letter and other admission documents

    To apply or register for a programme, you are required to attach the following documents:

    1. Passport photo - a clear passport sized photo is required
    2. Scanned National ID - Applys to only Kenyan applicants who are above 18 years of age.
    3. Scanned Passport - applys to Non-Kenyan applicants
    4. Disability certificate - applys to only those who have some disability
    5. Academic certificates - at least 2 academic certificates are required. Example KCPE & KCSE certificates.
